Court hearing in Kasko case

Pechersk District Court in Kyiv April 14 holds a meeting to choose a preventive measure against former Deputy Prosecutor General Vitaliy Kasko, whom the PGO investigators suspect of illegally acquiring the right to property by deception and abuse of trust (fraud) committed on a large scale, as well as with the deliberate use of a forged document.

Kasko's lawyers requested disqualification of prosecutors, but the court overruled the motion. Also Kasko's defense insisted on rejection of the petition of the PGO because of a lack of reasonable suspicion.

In turn, the Prosecutor General's Office asked the court to arrest Kasko setting a bail at UAH 1.8 million.
