Graduation of KORD Police specical force troops

The training center of the National Police in Kyiv region on May 6 hosted the official ceremonial presentation of certificates to 35 soldiers of KORD police special force, who will serve in Kharkiv region.

The event was attended by Ukraine’s PM Volodymyr Groysman, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States Geoffrey Pyatt, Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, and head of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze.

The Interior Ministry press service reported that KORD troops were selected from nearly 500 former fighters of the police special task units. They will be engaged in dealing with dangerous criminals, freeing hostages, providing power support of other police units, as well as, taking part, if necessary, in anti-terrorist operations in conjunction with the Security Service of Ukraine.

The Interior Ministry said that KORD troops can also perform tasks on witness protection in criminal proceedings and the protection of public order.
