Vlasenko: investigators illegally presented Yulia Tymoshenko with new charges

Yulia Tymoshenko today was illegally presented with new charges in the criminal cases reopened on November 4 by the Main Department of the Tax Militia of the State Tax Service regarding the activities of United Energy Systems of Ukraine in 1996-1997, says her defender Serhiy Vlasenko, according to the Official web site of Yulia Tymoshenko.

"The investigative actions were held despite the fact that Yulia Tymoshenko said that she doesn’t feel well. The investigative actions were held in her jail cell while she was lying down. She can’t move around. But the investigator paid no attention," Vlasenko said.

According to Vlasenko, the investigative actions took place in his presence, but Yulia Tymoshenko did not sign the documents given to her by investigators. "The investigator announced the charges and wanted to try to interrogate Yulia Tymoshenko, but I reminded him that this is a violation of criminal procedure law. The investigator didn’t question Yulia Tymoshenko today but promised to do so tomorrow," he said.

"The Prosecutor General’s Office, understanding that the charged are baseless and can’t be proved in a legal way, and after being burned by the gas case, decided to simply dump this on the tax police," Vlasenko believes.
