President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky plans to submit to the Verkhovna Rada a motion to appoint Ruslan Riaboshapka as the country's prosecutor general.

Riaboshapka had become the main contender for the post, LB.ua reported, citing its sources.

At the same time, there is a possibility that the Prosecutor General's Office will be headed by today's acting Head of the SBU security Service, Ivan Bakanov, while Riaboshapka will take up the top post in the SBU.

In late July, Zelensky personally confirmed that Ruslan Ryaboshapka was being considered for the post of prosecutor general.

Former member of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption, Ryaboshapka was the chief expert on law enforcement and anti-corruption policy at Zelensky’s campaign headquarters.

In May, Zelensky appointed him deputy head of the Presidential Administration (now renamed into the President's Office).

It was reported that Riaboshapka would be working on issues of judicial reform.
