Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko raised the Flag of Europe near the Presidential Administration on the occasion of the Day of Europe on Saturday, May 16.

The Ukrainian President stressed that Ukrainians deserved to be a part of the united Europe.

"In November 2013, Ukraine firmly declared its European choice with millions of people who came to the European Maidan," he said.

Poroshenko reminded that Ukrainian students had paid their blood for upholding the European values when they were beaten on the Maidan. Later, the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred sacrificed their lives for these values.

Nowadays, Ukraine is aware of its responsibility and is conducting European reforms in order to change and become a "true European state." The first step in that direction was made with the signature of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU. Twenty EU member states have already ratified this document.

"Today, we work hard to implement all the reforms declared in the Agreement," Poroshenko said. According to him, the National Council of Reforms was established to accelerate the reforms. "Our main goal is to provide an opportunity for our children to live in the country that is a European Union member. Nothing will make Ukraine give up the chosen path," the president said.
