One Russian Su-24 bomber was downed by the Turkish Air Force on the border with Syria. In a statement over the incident Turkey claimed that, before a Russian plane had been shot down, it was warned ten times of the violation of the Turkish airspace.

The Prosecutor General is to consider among two candidates for the position of anti-corruption prosecutor nominated by the competition commission, Ukrainian media reported. The committee members gave nine votes in favor of Maksym Hryschuk and another seven for Nazar Holodnytskiy. No votes were cast for Vitaliy Kasko, while only two voted for Roman Govda.

There were 6,457 natural disasters over the said period across the globe. The total damage from these disasters amounted to approximately $1.89 trillion. According to forecasts by Bloomberg, the fight against global warming will cost $2.2 trillion to the companies that specialize in production of oil, gas and coal.

8.7 million people died of famine in 1932-1934 in the Soviet Union, according to a study conducted by the Institute of Demography and Social Studies of the National Academy of Sciences, together with the U.S. researchers. The greatest losses were in Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Russia suffered significantly fewer losses; the republics of Central Asia, Belarus and the Caucasus republics – even fewer.

The state budget has received UAH 136.9 million in 2015 from privatization, according to the official publication by the State Property Fund of Ukraine, titled "Vidomosti privatizatsii." The received amount is just 0.8% of the planned amount.

UAH 56.3 billion is the total loss of banks operating in Ukraine, excluding insolvent ones, as of November 1, 2015, the National Bank of Ukraine reported.
