On the day when Taras Shevchenko was born! Remember that Savchenko may not survive dry hunger strike," Feygin said during a Shuster Live TV show.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Russia accuses Savchenko of complicity in the murder of two Russian journalists in Donbas as well as the illegal crossing of the Russian border. Savchenko and her defense deny all accusations and claim that at the time of the death of the Russian journalists, she had already been captured by the pro-Russian militants, who then forcibly transported her into Russia.

On March 2, state prosecution demanded that the court sentence Savchenko to 23 years' imprisonment in a penal colony.

On March 3 the judge refused to give Savchenko an opportunity to present her last plea, After debate, the adjourning the hearing after the debate until March 9. In response, Savchenko said that being denied of her last plea is a violation of her rights, and declared hunger strike from March 4.
