Twitter account of top Ukraine diplomat to UN hacked

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has posted a message on Twitter regarding the incident. 

Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations has also posted on Facebook the Attention note to inform the public on the cyber attack carried out just ahead of the vote on setting up an MH17 international tribunal at the UN Security Council.

Earlier Sergeev wrote that Russia’s blocking of the MH17 resolution is an attempt to hide the truth at any cost.

"Russia is in Zugzwang at the United Nations, trying to penetrate the process, destroy it from within. We have backup variants," wrote Sergeyev.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin on behalf of President Poroshenko left for the United States to promote the resolution establishing the tribunal to prosecute those responsible for the downing of MH-17 on July 29.

Before that, on July 28 a meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, Malaysia, Ukraine, Australia and Belgium is scheduled, to continue to work together on the text of the draft.

UNIAN's memo. Flight MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was downed in Donetsk region on July 17, 2014. There is mounting evidence the plane was shot down by a powerful Buk-M anti-aircraft missile system. All 298 people on board were killed. Most of the passengers, 194, were Dutch citizens, while 43 people, including all of the aircraft's crew, were citizens of Malaysia.

The plane crashed near Shakhtarsk in Donetsk region, in an area controlled by Russian-backed militants.

The bodies of the crash victims were transferred to the Netherlands for forensic medical examination and identification.

On July 24, Ukraine delegated the investigation of the aircraft crash to the Netherlands.

On July 9, Malaysia published a draft UN Security Council resolution calling for establishing an international tribunal to investigate the downing of a Malaysia Airlines plane over eastern Ukraine last year.
