Al-Assad: "If my departure is the solution, I will never hesitate"

"As for me personally, I say once again that if my departure is the solution, I will never hesitate to do that," he said in an interview with the Iranian Khabar TV Channel, SANA reported.

However, he claims, this should be decided by the Syrian people rather than by the opposition that demands his resignation.

"This is decided only by the people. That is why I say to them: if you believe that you are right – why don't you convince the Syrian people, and the Syrian people will decide, through their institutions or the elections, who the president should be," he added.
