The city’s expats have decided to hold another “flag march” similar to several such events held last winter at the height of the Maidan protests in the Ukrainian capital, according to a British citizen living in Kyiv, Chris Taylor.

“We think that as an expat community we should continue to show our support for Ukraine,” Taylor told UNIAN on Friday.

“To commemorate the start of EuroMaidan we are going to have a flag parade as we did early in the year, and we will also light candles of remembrance in certain pertinent locations around the city.”

The previous events were attended by hundreds of members of the expat community, who rallied at the city’s central Shevchenko Park and then marched under the flags of their nations to Kyiv’s Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the epicenter of the popular uprising against the regime of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

The event has been timed to coincide with the date of the start of the EuroMaidan protests, November 21, and the huge changes that have affected everybody who lives in Ukraine, Taylor said, calling on Kyiv’s expat community to rally round for another show of support.

“Please come along, with your country's flag, and show support for Ukraine [at a time] when the country and people need it most,” Taylor said.
