Reconstruction of Kyiv zoo to start in May – City Administration
The reconstruction of the "Kyiv Zoological Park" starts in May 2017, according to deputy chairman of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) Oleksandr Spasibko.
"Last summer, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko already presented the concept of the reconstruction of the zoo. According to the plan, the work will begin in May. The upgraded zoo will meet all European standards. Reconstruction will take place in several stages. It is important that during the reconstruction, the park will continue operations," said the official following open tenders for design services.
He added, citing the mayor, that the capital's zoo will definitely remain at its historical location.
"But we will make it the best park, a more attractive one, one of the city’s business cards and part of local traditions. I will also draw your attention to the fact that now 30% is the territory of the zoo is currently not being used. After the reconstruction, there will be a significant increase in usable area," the deputy chairman of the KCSA noted.
