Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko has said the number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the city rose by 56 in the past day.

"In the past day, another 56 residents of Kyiv tested positive for the coronavirus, including four healthcare workers," he said during an online briefing on July 13, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the city is 6,238.

According to Klitschko, 21 women aged 21 to 75 and 31 men aged 19 to 80 among those infected.

In addition, one girl (12 years old) and three boys (from four to 17 years old) tested positive for the coronavirus.

Klitschko said nine new patients had been hospitalized, while the rest were self-isolating, undergoing treatment at home under medical supervision.

Fifty-one people recovered from the disease in the past day, he said.

In total, 2,109 Kyiv residents have already recovered.

"The highest number of the new cases in the city was registered in Sviatoshynsky district (13), Shevchenkivsky district (11), and Dniprovsky district (seven)," Klitschko said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, 612 new cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19 were reported in Ukraine in the past day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 54,133 as of the morning of July 13.
