Russian-led troops stationed in the occupied city of Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, on Wednesday evening resorted to 152mm artillery systems to massively attack the Ukrainian army.

"The enemy has just opened fire from 152mm artillery systems deployed in Donetsk. They are now attacking our positions near the town of Avdiyivka, the village of Pisky, and the Yasynuvata interchange. The enemy has been shelling for half an hour already, also using 82mm and 120mm mortars," coordinator of NGO StopTerror Semen Kabakaev wrote on Facebook.

"Donetsk has been put on alert, several squads of the 'MGB' [the so-called 'Ministry of State Security' of the self-proclaimed 'Donetsk People's Republic'] have left for patrolling – they have allegedly launched a manhunt to catch 'saboteurs,'" Kabakaev added.

As UNIAN reported earlier, one Ukrainian soldier was killed in action, another three were wounded in action amid 45 attacks on the Ukrainian army on April 17 alone. The enemy resorted to 152mm artillery systems in the Luhansk sector, while 120mm and 82mm mortars were used both in the Luhansk and Donetsk sectors in eastern Ukraine.
