Modernized facilities at the state border with Russia in Kharkiv region

The results of the implementation of the plan for the modernization and construction of facilities at the Ukrainian-Russian border in Kharkiv region in 2015 and the first quarter of 2016 were presented yesterday, April 20.

In particular, they opened revamped checkpoints of Zhuravlivka and Hoptivka. At Hoptivka, they demonstrated a complex of completed engineering operations, showcased a system of so-called "smart border facilities," which suggests the integrated use of engineering facilities, technical equipment and combat capabilities of the modern equipment.

They also showed new items of weapons and equipment used to protect the state border, the press service of the State Border Service of Ukraine said. One of such innovative equipment pieces is a mobile combat unit, which is produced in Ukraine on the basis of a Triton (Tryton) armored vehicle. It is a unique piece of military hardware in terms of its technical characteristics. It was developed at the request of the State Border Service. T

his modern, multi-purpose vehicle makes it possible not only to properly monitor the land borders but, if necessary, to open fire on the enemy from installed weapon modules.

Some UAH 400 million was allocated for border modernization in Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions last year.
