Closing ceremony of Sea Breeze 2016 military drills

The Sea Breeze 2016, a joint Ukraine-U.S. exercise which began on July 18 and ended on July 30, was conducted along Odesa and Mykolaiv regions in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.

The exercise was undertaken to conduct a multinational operation on security in the crisis region and its goal was to let multinational headquarters and forces work together, in line with international standards, and conduct an international operation to establish peace.

Up to 4,000 troops participated in the event. Along with Ukraine and the U.S., there were servicemen from Bulgaria, Great Britain, Georgia and Greece, as well as Italy, Spain, Lithuania, and Moldova, along with Norway, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Sweden, and Finland. The drills involved more than 25 combat ships, boats and supply vessels of the Ukrainian Navy, the State Border Service of Ukraine, the U.S. navy and the navies of Romania and Turkey. In addition, around 20 aircraft and helicopters, more than 140 trucks and armored vehicles and 700 marines and servicemen of other ground units took part in the exercise.

Ukrainian, U.S., Georgian and Moldovan soldiers, who participated in the land maneuvers of the Sea Breeze 2016 drills, attended the official closing ceremony, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Office of Communications and the Press told UNIAN.
