Oleg Verniaiev wins silver medal for Ukraine in Rio

Gymnast Oleg Verniaiev won the second silver medal for Ukraine at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro on August 10.

Competing in the artistic gymnastics men's individual all-round event, Verniaiev was adjudged the best in the exercises on rings and parallel bars, second in the exercise on the pommel horse and vault, fifth in the floor exercise and twelfth in the exercise on the horizontal bar.

The Ukrainian athlete was initially leading the fight for the gold medal but was eventually defeated by Japanese athlete Kohei Uchimura.
