New arch over damaged Chornobyl reactor

The fourth reactor of the damaged Chornobyl nuclear power plant was covered by a new, reliable facility on November 29, 2016.

The project implemented by JV NOVARKA lasted for a decade.

The arch is designed to create a leak-tight barrier to contain radioactive substances for at least the next 100 years.

Over 40 states and organizations donated funds to the project.
