    Sanctions against legal entities and individuals that affected Russian social networks and large internet players sparked an active debate in Ukrainian society. President Poroshenko personally attended the ceremony to mark the anniversary of the Crimean Tatars’ deportation. PM Groysman made a bid on the implementation of the pension reform. The Verkhovna Rada stripped MP Andriy Artemenko of his people’s deputy status and abolished the so-called "Savchenko Law", although failing to create the impression of a smoothly functioning mechanism.

    Several years of Ukraine’s struggle for the long-awaited EU visa liberalization is coming to a successful; completion. The negotiations in Washington became an indicator of the effectiveness of Ukrainian diplomacy. Emmanuel Macron’s victory in France’s presidential campaign has saved the Normandy Four, but it could hardly be a reason for any particular euphoria in Ukraine.

    Early days of May traditionally keep anxious the Ukrainian authorities and public as a whole. The Obolon district court in Kyiv launched hearings in a treason case of fugitive ex-president Viktor Yanukovych. The elections in Ukraine’s united territorial communities became quite a vanity fair for many politicians. The situation in the Donbas has been put on pause.
