Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko says Russia will interfere in the Ukrainian elections as part of the hybrid war the Kremlin has been waging against the country.

He said Ukrainians must be protected from any influence, "primarily Russian influence," because the Russian Federation plans to exert influence during elections "as an element of a hybrid war," he said during the annual Ukrainian breakfast at the World Economic Forum in Davos, an UNIAN correspondent reports.

Poroshenko urged breakfast participants to ensure unity.

"We should stand together and protect the country from the dangers of hybrid war and Russian influence," he said.

The president stressed the importance of combating Russian aggression against Ukraine.

"If we are talking about the future, we should talk about the restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine," Poroshenko said.

The next presidential elections in Ukraine will be held on March 31, 2019.
