Ambassador of the European Union to Ukraine and Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Matti Maasikas has said the European Union is helping Ukraine to get closer in terms of economy, standards, business and science, however the EU will not take big political steps in the issue of European integration in the near future.
"There is no big political step in sight. This is also reality. You cannot say we will do this next. But what we are doing is helping Ukraine to get closer to the EU," he said in an interview for the RBC Ukraine news agency.
According to Maasikas, Ukraine is a European country in historical, cultural and many other aspects.
