The United Nations has delivered more than 160 tonnes of humanitarian aid to residents of temporarily occupied Donbas.

According to the press service of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, a convoy of 13 trucks carrying humanitarian aid from the UN crossed into the temporarily occupied territories at the Novotroyitske checkpoint.

"A total of 167,400 tonnes of cargo has been cleared," the report says.

Earlier, the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Mr. Neal Walker, briefed Member States and International Organizations on the dire humanitarian situation faced by 4.4 million conflict-affected people in eastern Ukraine.

"After four years of conflict, 3.4 million people in Ukraine are struggling to cope with the impact of the humanitarian crisis and urgently require humanitarian assistance and protection," United Nations in Ukraine reported.

Every day, the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine forces millions of civilians to make impossible choices whether they eat, have medicine, or their children go to school. Critical civilian infrastructure is severely impacted, as ceasefire agreements are consistently disregarded.
