In Ukraine, amendments to the Cabinet Resolution have come into force, introducing "priority hours" for senior citizens in shops and pharmacies.

Health Minister Maksym Stepanov has updated the public on the news, the press service of the health ministry reported on Facebook on Wednesday, November 18.

Priority hours" for the elderly – from 10:00 to 12:00 – are supposed to lower COVID-19 infection risks for the vulnerable groups.

"It is important that they have as little contact with others as possible, because the share of fatalities is the highest among those over 65... The initiative will last for the period of quarantine. I hope that all trade and service establishments will follow this," the minister said.

A total of 570,153 COVID-19 cases have been registered in Ukraine since the onset of pandemic, including 25,979 recoveries and 10,112 deaths.

Over the past day, 12,496 new cases were confirmed.
