Three people have been injured in a fire engine blast in Luhansk region, which has recently seen large-scale wildfires.

This was reported by the press service of Luhansk Regional Department of Forestry and Hunting.

The incident was reported at 09:50 a.m. local time on October 9. An AMUR-type fire engine exploded after it ran over an explosive device near the village of Bolotenne, Stanytsia-Luhanska district.

The injured are the driver, a Stanytsia-Luhanska forestry worker, and an employee of the State Emergency Service.

They were taken to the regional hospital.

The vehicle is beyond repair.

Recent wildfires in Luhansk region

• On September 30, there were reports on 146 wildfires in Luhansk region, 116 of them had been extinguished as of the evening of October 1.
• The police have already opened seven criminal cases related to the fires.
• On October 1, the Stanytsia Luhanska checkpoint was temporarily closed over the danger of the spread of a fire. It reopened on October 5.
• According to the State Emergencies Service, the most difficult situation has developed along the stretch between Stanytsia Luhanska and the city of Severodonetsk, where forest fires have jeopardized 32 villages and towns.
• State Emergencies Service workers managed to contain the fire approaching an electrical substation and a gas pipeline near the villages of Nyzhnioteple and Artema.
• On October 8, large-scale wildfires were eliminated in Luhansk region.
