Russia-led forces used proscribed weapons, namely 82mm and 120mm mortars, to shell positions of the Ukrainian Joint Forces near the villages of Zaitseve and Luhanske in Donbas, eastern Ukraine, on Saturday, May 4.

Since the beginning of the day, enemy troops have mounted nine attacks on Ukrainian positions, the press center of the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) said on Facebook in an evening update on May 4.

Hot spots in the Skhid (East) sector were the town of Maryinka and the villages of Novomykhailivka, Pisky, Talakivka, and Lebedynske.

In the Pivnich (North) sector, Russia-led forces opened fire from 120mm mortars to shell Ukrainian troops deployed near the village of Zaitseve, while 82mm mortars were used to attack Ukrainian positions near the village of Luhanske. Grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms were used near the village of Zolote-4.

No Ukrainian army casualties were reported for the period of 00:00 to 18:00 Kyiv time on May 4.
