Russian occupying forces conduct large military drills in Donbas / REUTERS

The Russian occupying forces last week held large-scale military drills in the temporarily occupied parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions with the involvement of the so-called "local defense units."

"Last week, a large-scale command and staff training event was held in the temporarily occupied territory in Donetsk and Luhansk regions with the involvement of the 'territorial defense units.' Its major goal was to ensure the stability of the control and telecoms system by deploying new reserve command posts," according to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate.

What is more, the General Staff and the Southern Military District's commissions of the Russian armed forces during the training updated the operational plans for the use of formations and units of the 1st (Donetsk) and 2nd (Luhansk) Army Corps against Ukraine's Joint Forces, the Defense Ministry added.
