The world's largest cargo aircraft An-225 Mriya, made in Ukraine, has departed from the Kyiv-Antonov-2 International Airport for the first commercial flight after maintenance and upgrading.

An-225 is involved in transportation from China to the European Union of humanitarian aid – medical supplies to fight the coronavirus, Ukroboronprom press service reported.

An-225 will become the sixth aircraft of Antonov Airlines, airlift subdivision of ANTONOV Company involved in missions on transportation of vital cargoes against COVID-19.

Part of these missions are performed by five AN-24-100 Ruslans within the SALIS (Strategic Airlift Interim Solution) program in the interest of NATO and EU.
