The total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the world exceeded 40 million patients as of October 20.

As many as 40,346,078 laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 cases had been reported as of 08:24 on October 20, according to the Coronavirus COVID-19 Global Cases dashboard by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.

The overall death toll is 1,117,577 people, while 27,628,834 coronavirus patients have already recovered.

As many as 189 countries have been affected by the virus.
