Ukraine conducts massive training of military reservists
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have begun large-scale practical training of military reservists.
"In September 2016, nine brigades from all operational commands in regions will take part in training. More than 8,000 troops from the operating reserve will be involved, 10% of whom are officers. Training will be held in two stages: first stage – September 3-15, second – September 12-24," the General Staff reported.
Training is planned to be completed with brigade tactical exercises with live fire, in which mixed units of active military personnel and reservists will take part.
The main purpose of the exercises is to work out a mechanism for rapid resupply of the operational reserve to units and formations in the case of open aggression.
There are currently in Ukraine some 85,000 reservists in Ukraine.
