MEPs visiting Donbas

Three MEPs Rebecca Harms, Michal Boni and Jaromir Stetina were visiting Donbas, eastern Ukraine, on September 19 despite the European Parliament's security warnings.

Deputy Speaker of Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Iryna Gerashchenko wrote about the visit on her Facebook page.

"It is a pity that only three members of the European Parliament out of the 20 who originally planned to go to the east have decided to make this important trip to see with their own eyes whether it is possible to hold [local] elections there. Others have canceled a long-planned visit at the last minute, when the European Parliament's leaders recommended their deputies not to go farther than Kyiv for security reasons," she wrote.
