Euromaidan story in flashback

Three years ago, on November 21, 2013, the then prime minister Mykola Azarov announced his government had given up plans to integrate into the European Union, which was the demand of Ukrainian society.

People used social networks to get together for a rally on Kyiv's Independence Square, or Maidan Nezalezhnosti, later on that rainy day.

That was the beginning of the Revolution of Dignity, which turned a new page of Ukraine's history.

The following day, the number of participants in the rally started to grow, estimated at hundreds by the evening of November 22. First serious clashes between police officers and protesters reported in the evening on that day. The death toll in a few months of Euromaidan protests exceeded a hundred people, who were mainly civilians.

On the third anniversary of the Euromaidan, UNIAN shows the story of its beginning in flashback.
