A thick fog due to forest fires covered the Singapore and part of Malaysia

In four Malaysian States, schools are closed. In Singapore canceled several sports events. Local residents are advised not to go out unnecessarily. Fires in this region occur annually due to illegal felling of trees - special slash-and-burn method. It has been used on some of the Islands for the organization of plantations for the production of paper and palm oil.
