Agri-exports from Ukraine up 2% in Jan-May

Grains, oils, and processed products traditionally prevail in the county's export structure.

Ukraine in January-May 2020 exported agricultural products worth US$9.07 billion, which was 2% up year-over-year (y-o-y).

"In January-May 2020, exports of agricultural and food products stood at US$9.072 billion, which was 2%, or US$180.3 million up from the corresponding period in 2019," the press service of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture said on June 3.

It is noted that grains, oils, and processed products traditionally prevail in the county's export structure.

In particular, Ukraine increased shipments of the following products: sunflower, safflower, and cottonseed oils (by US$421.3 million/+ 22.4%); barley (by US$107.6 million/by 2.4 times); wheat (by US$100 million/+ 10.3%; cake, and solid waste from vegetable fats and oils production (by US$44 million/+ 9.2%). Demand for Ukrainian rapeseed and mustard oil has also increased significantly (by 18.7 times).

UNIAN memo. Ukraine in 2019 updated its historical record in agri-exports, having supplied agricultural products worth US$22.4 billion, which was almost 20% up from 2018.

At the same time, Ukraine's agri-food shipment to the European Union accounted for 33.5% of the country's agri-exports.
