Ukraine sees record high grain exports in MY 2019-2020

This year's figures are 6.8 million tonnes up from those of MY 2018-2019.

Ukraine in the 2019-2020 marketing year (MY) exported record high 57.2 million tonnes of flour, grain and legumes to foreign markets.

This year's figures are 6.8 million tonnes up from 50.4 million tonnes reported in MY 2018-2019, according to a statement published on the information-analytical portal Ukrainian agribusiness sector on July 7.

In total, 56.7 million tonnes of grain and legumes was supplied onto foreign markets, including 20.5 million tonnes of wheat and a mixture of wheat and rye, 5.08 million tonnes of barley, 8,200 tonnes of rye, 30,300 tonnes of maize, and 791,000 tonnes of other grain and legumes.

Ukraine also exported 334,200 tonnes of flour, in particular, 331,700 tonnes of wheat flour or that of a mixture of wheat and rye (meslin), and 2,500 tonnes of flour from other grains.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture expects the yield of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2020 will be 68 million tonnes, while that of oilseeds is expected at 20 million tonnes.

The country's grain harvest in 2019 amounted to record-high 75 million tonnes.

As of the beginning of July 2020, Ukrainian farmers harvested 245 tonnes of wheat from 110,000 hectares against 3.3 million tonnes threshed from 1 million hectares as of early July 2019.
