Economy ministry boasts of grain export success

Since the beginning of the new season, Ukraine has exported almost 22 million tonnes.

Ukrainian agrarians have exported 21.92 million tonnes of grain as of December 2, since the start of the current marketing year, which is 2.8 million tonnes below last year's figures.

That's according to the operational data of the Agrarian Department at the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade, and Agriculture of Ukraine.

In particular, some 12 million tonnes of wheat was exported, 3.7 million tonnes of barley, 5.8 million tonnes of corn, and 1,700 tonnes of rye.

Background

The economy ministry and grain market players have approved the export cap for wheat in the current marketing year (July 2020 - June 2021) at 17.5 million tonnes, and 16,000 tonnes – for rye.

Ukraine has updated the record for grain exports in the 2019-2020 marketing year, having supplied 57.2 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, as well as flour, to foreign markets.
