Ukraine cuts grain exports by over 20% on year

Rye was the smallest grain export of all.

Grain exports from Ukraine for the 2020/2021 marketing year decreased by more than 20%, the State Fiscal Service says.

"For the 2020/2021 marketing year, exports stand at about 29 million tons. And this is 21% down against last year. Such data were provided by the State Fiscal Service," the TSN news service reports.

It is noted that since season start, farmers have exported nearly 13 million tonnes of wheat. Also, foreign markets saw about 4 million tonnes of Ukrainian barley.

Ukraine became the world's second-largest grain exporter, with the U.S. topping the list.

As per the U.S. Department of Agriculture, in MY 2019/2020, Ukraine ranked second among the world's major grain exporters in terms of barley supplies, fourth in corn, and fifth in wheat.
