Ukraine exports over 18 mln tonnes of grain

Wheat exports exceeded 11 million tonnes.

Ukrainian agrarians had exported 18.47 million tonnes of grain from July 1, 2020, when the new marketing year (July 2020 - June 2021) began, to November 13; it was 2.8 million tonnes down on the same date last year.

This is evidenced by the data of the agrarian department of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine.

In particular, wheat exports totaled 11.22 million tonnes, those of barley were 3.47 million tonnes, maize shipments totaled 3.42 million tonnes, and those of rye were 1,700 tonnes.

In addition, exports of wheat flour and other crops were 64,700 tonnes, which was 70,000 tonnes less than in the corresponding period of last year.

Chronology of events

  • The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine and participants in the grain market have approved the maximum export volume of wheat in the current marketing year (July 2020 – June 2021) at the level of 17.5 million tonnes, and rye at the level of 16,000 tonnes.
  • Since the beginning of the new marketing year (MY July 2020 - June 2021), Ukrainian agrarians had exported 16.84 million tonnes of grain as of November 4, which was 2.7 million tonnes less than on the same date last year.
  • Ukraine has updated the record for grain exports in the 2019-2020 marketing year, supplying 57.2 million tonnes of grain and legumes, as well as flour to foreign markets.
