Ukraine harvests 50.5 mln tonnes of grain

In particular, the yield of maize was 14.5 million tonnes.

Ukrainian agrarians had harvested 50.5 million tonnes of grain as of October 26, 2020, from 12.9 million hectares (ha), which is 84% of the forecast.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

Harvested crops

In particular, the yield of millet was 240,000 tonnes (it was harvested from 147,700 ha, or 98% of the forecast), that of buckwheat was 99,000 tonnes (from 76,500 ha, or 97%).

What is more, farmers harvested 11.6 million tonnes of sunflower from 5.9 million ha (92%), 2.2 million tonnes of soybeans from 1.08 million ha (80%), 14.5 million tonnes of maize from 3.07 million ha (56%).

In addition, 3.7 million tonnes of sugar beets were dug up from 88,500 ha (41%).

In total, 66.8 million tonnes of basic agricultural crops, including industrial ones, were harvested as of the reporting date.

Forecasts

  • The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture forecasts the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2020 at 68 million tonnes, while the yield of oilseeds is projected at 20 million tonnes.
