Ukrainian farmers gather 95% of grain harvest

The harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2020 is projected at at 68 million tonnes

Ukrainian agrarians as of November 19 harvested 60.3 million tonnes of grain from 14.6 million hectares (ha), which is 95% of the plan.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

Farmers completed the harvesting of millet, having gathered 243,700 tonnes from 150,300 ha. They also harvested 105,600 tonnes of buckwheat from 78,400 ha, 13 million tonnes of sunflower seeds from 6.4 million ha.

In addition, 2.7 million tonnes of soybeans were harvested from 1.3 million ha (97% to the plan), 24.5 million tonnes of maize from 4.7 million ha (86%).

The yield of sugar beets was 8.1 million tonnes dug from 190,700 ha (88%).

In total, as of the reporting date, 78.5 million tonnes of basic agricultural crops, including industrial crops, were harvested from 23.4 million ha.

As of November 9, 2020, Ukraine harvested 55.3 million tonnes of grain from 13.8 million ha (90% of the forecast).

The split of crops was the following: 19.6 million tonnes of maize from 4 million ha (72%), 241,000 tonnes of millet from 148,300 ha (99%), 104,700 tonnes of buckwheat from 77,800 ha (99%), 12.4 million tonnes of sunflower seeds from 6.2 million ha (97%), 2.5 million tonnes of soybeans from 1.2 million ha (93%).

In addition, 6.03 million tonnes of sugar beets were dug up from 147,800 ha (68%).

Forecast

The Ministry for Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture predicts the harvest of grain and leguminous crops in Ukraine in 2020 at 68 million tonnes, and the yield of oilseeds is projected at 20 million tonnes.
