Ryanair cancels almost all flights to Ukraine in second half of Sept

The air carrier has not yet announced the cancellation, but almost none of the flights earlier scheduled for September 15-29 are now available in its booking system.

Europe's largest budget carrier Ryanair has reportedly canceled almost all of its flights to Ukraine scheduled for the second half of September 2020.

The air carrier has not yet announced the cancellation, but almost none of the flights earlier scheduled for September 15-29 are now available in its booking system, the Ukrainian media outlet European Pravda wrote on September 1.

In particular, this is about the flights to Poland, Hungary, Germany, Austria, and Italy. Meanwhile, only two flights are expected to be performed from Kyiv to Paphos (Cyprus) on September 20 and 27, several flights to Spain (Barcelona, Valencia, and Madrid), as well as to London and Manchester.

Ukraine shuts borders for a month: background

  • On August 26, the government decided to close down the country's border to foreigners from August 29 until September 28 due to a spike in COVID-19 incidence worldwide.
  • On August 27, the start of the restrictive measure was rescheduled for August 28.
  • Exempt from travel ban are foreigners studying in Ukraine or undergo military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine; having temporary or permanent residence permits; entering the territory of Ukraine in transit; as well as diplomats and consuls, and a number of other categories.
