Poroshenko appoints new CEO at Ukroboronprom

Ukroboronprom will undergo an international audit.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has announced that Ukrspecexport CEO Pavlo Bukin has been tapped to head state-run concern Ukroboronprom, the country's major manufacturer of military hardware and weapons.

"We're summing up Ukroboronprom's performance openly – before the press, the public, before the army, but we're also opening its new stage," the president wrote on Facebook on February 21.

"And, in the end, it should be a vertically integrated company that will work in accordance with the best international standards of transparency, openness and efficiency," he added.

He thanked Ukroboronprom's former CEO, Roman Romanov, and wished fruitful work to the newly appointed CEO, Pavlo Bukin.

As UNIAN reported, Poroshenko on February 12 accepted Romanov's resignation. Romanov tendered a letter of resignation after Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman had criticized him for the failure to repay wage debts at Ukraine's Mykolaiv shipyard, which is part of Ukroboronprom.

Ukraine's state-run Ukroboronprom Concern was established in 2010 to ensure the effective operation and management of state-run economic entities involved in the development, manufacture, sale, repair, modernization and disposal of weapons, military and special equipment, and ammunition. Ukroboronprom incorporates over a hundred enterprises of Ukraine's military industrial complex.
