Ukraine imports almost 14 bcm of gas from Europe in 2017

In late November 2015, the country refused to purchase natural gas from Russia's Gazprom.

Ukraine in 2017 imported 13.942 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth US$3.228 billion from European countries.

Ukraine received 48.6 million cubic meters of gas worth $11.2 million from traders registered in Austria, 542 million cubic meters worth $127.3 million from the United Kingdom, 67.3 million cubic meters worth $15.9 million from Italy, 179 million cubic meters worth $40.7 million from Luxembourg, 3.7 billion cubic meters worth $847.8 million from Germany, 1.5 billion cubic meters worth $343.2 million from Poland, 222.16 million cubic meters worth $55.3 million from Slovakia, 768.2 million cubic meters worth $178.9 million from Hungary, 1.02 billion cubic meters worth $237.9 million from France, 252 million cubic meters worth $55.6 million from the Czech Republic, and 5.6 billion cubic meters worth $1.3 billion from Switzerland, according to the State Statistics Service.

In general, the country doubled gas imports from Europe in 2015 from 2014, to 10.3 billion cubic meters, reducing by 56.5% the purchase of hydrocarbons from Russia.

In 2016, Ukraine imported 11.1 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe alone. In particular, 9.1 billion cubic meters arrived from Slovakia, 1 billion cubic meters -- from Hungary, and 1 billion cubic meters -- from Poland.
