Users of mobile phone services to be able to get registered electronically from autumn

Ukraine's National Commission for Communications and Informatization Regulation (NCCIR) says users of telecommunications services will be able to get registered electronically starting from the autumn of 2018, without signing a contract at an operator's office.

Read alsoUkraine on way to 4G"This decision by the NCCIR is designed to simplify the registration procedure for subscribers who use telecommunications services, without entering into a contract in writing. The procedure will meet the requirements for creating conditions for remote registration of subscribers, which provides an option to select either the electronic form of application or the paper one," the NCCIR said in a statement on February 24.

The decision shall come into force nine months after its publication, that is, at the end of this year. Subscribers, submitting an application for registration in electronic form, will be able to register themselves remotely via electronic digital signature, BankID and other means of electronic identity, available from the operators, telecommunications providers.

Some 90% of subscribers are not registered now, NCCIR Head Oleksandr Zhivotovsky wrote on Facebook. This, in turn, is conducive to frauds related to the use of subscriber numbers, which affects their financial status and the reputation of operators, providers of telecommunications services, the agency noted.
