Enough gas in Ukraine to ensure stable heating supply despite cold snap – Naftogaz

As of today, 10.4 billion cubic meters of gas remains at Ukraine's underground storage facilities, which is 2 bcm more year on year.

There are sufficient volumes of gas in Ukraine's stocks to provide for a successful completion of this year's heating season despite a recent cold snap across the country.

"Weather forecasters say low temperatures will prevail but there's only three days left until calendar spring arrives. We hope that March will be more pleasant and weather-friendly. Anyway, there are sufficient gas reserves until the end of the heating season," the report said.

Also in the company notes that as of today, 10.4 billion cubic meters of gas remains at Ukraine's underground storage facilities, which is 2 bcm more year on year.

By the beginning of the heating season 2017-2018 (October 15), Ukraine had accumulated in its USFs a record high 16.8 bcm of gas. According to estimates earlier voiced by Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolyev, Ukraine will come out of the heating season with gas reserves at 8-9 bcm.

Against the backdrop of a cold snap, starting from Feb 25, the state-owned GTS operator, Ukrtransstas, has increased gas selection from USFs to a record level of 101 million cubic meters per day.
