Ukraine sees sharp rise in car output in first two months of 2018

The production of motor vehicles in Ukraine in January-February 2018 compared to the same period in 2017 increased by 70.8%, to 1,291 units.

The output of passenger cars in the two months in 2018 compared to the same period in 2017 increased by 94.1%, to 1,085 units, the Ukrautoprom Association said.

However, the production of commercial vehicles decreased by 38.5% year-over-year, to 67 units, while the manufacture of buses grew by 58%, to 139 units.

In February 2018 alone, Ukrainian plants manufactured 721 vehicles, which was almost twice the output in February 2017.

In February 2018, passenger cars whose output soared by 134% year-over-year, to 606 units (all manufactured by Eurocar) accounted for the lion's share of all manufactured vehicles.

Thirty-five trucks were manufactured in February 2018, which was 30% down on February 2017.

The number of buses manufactured in February 2018 was 80 units, which was 50.9% more than in February 2017.

As UNIAN reported, Ukrautoprom earlier said that the output of vehicles in Ukraine in 2017 increased by 63.1% from 2016, to 8,586 units. The production of vehicles in Ukraine in 2016 decreased by 36% from 2015, to 5,200 units.
