New airport may be built in Dnipro

The construction could take up to 18 months.

A new airport may emerge in Dnipro following the example of Kharkiv, according to City Mayor Borys Filatov.

"There is a serious, but not yet concretized, agreement on the construction of a new airport in the city of Dnipro following the example of Kharkiv," Filatov wrote on Facebook.

According to the mayor, he has been discussing the project with the future investor, a Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky.

Filatov noted that the investor will on the terms of public-private partnership reconstruct the old terminal and build a new one with a capacity of up to 800 passengers per hour.

He stressed that at the moment, intensive negotiations are underway while project paperwork is being formalized.

According to Filatov, the President of Ukraine, Government, Ministry of Infrastructure, people's deputies, the Verkhovna Rada Budget Committee represented by Andriy Pavelko, the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Council, the regional state administration, the previous and new owners are all involved in the project implementation.
