Ukraine's parliament improves business environment for smaller local winemakers

The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has adopted a law that provides for a simplified, declaration-based procedure for the small-scale production of wine products on a declarative basis.

Law No. 6693 "On amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine for the development of the production of terroir wines and natural honey drinks" was backed by 247 MPs with a minimum of 226 votes.

The law provides for a simplified procedure for small production of wine products on a declarative basis.

In 2017, Ukraine produced about 10.3 million decaliters of wine products.
