U.S. House of Representatives approves disbursement of over US$620 mln to Ukraine

The House of Representatives of the U.S. Congress has approved the Consolidated Appropriations Act for the financial year 2018, which provides for $620.7 million in disbursements to Ukraine.

The assistance to Ukraine has increased for 2018 FY, the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States wrote on Facebook.

In particular, spending on Ukraine's defense grew by $50 million, to $200 million. The funds will be used to finance U.S. projects for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in particular, such as military training, provision of military equipment and munitions, lethal defensive weapons, other military equipment and services, as well as logistics support. The assistance also includes intelligence support for Ukraine's armed and security forces.

In respect of Ukraine, the U.S. Department of State and related agencies are assigned $420.7 million, which is $10 million more than the corresponding expenses last year.

Before coming into force, the Consolidated Appropriations Act 2018 is to be approved by the Senate and signed by the U.S. President.
