Ukrainian farmers export over 30 mln tonnes of grain since July 1

Ukrainian agribusinesses in the previous marketing year exported 43.8 million tonnes of grain, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence.

Ukrainian farmers exported over 30 million tonnes of grain from July 1, 2017, when the 2017-2018 marketing year (MY) began, to March 22, 2018.

In particular, wheat exports totaled 13.8 million tonnes, those of barley were 4 million tonnes, and those of maize stood at 11.6 million tonnes, the press service of Ukraine's Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry has said.

Over the same period of the previous marketing year, Ukraine exported over 32.8 million tonnes of grain. In particular, wheat shipments abroad stood at 14.4 million tonnes, including almost 9 million tonnes of food wheat and over 5.5 million tonnes of coarse wheat. Barley exports totaled 4.7 million tonnes and those of maize 13.3 million tonnes.

During the current marketing year, Ukraine exported over 4.3 million tonnes of oilseeds (against over 3.3 million tonnes in the previous marketing year), including over 2 million tonnes of rapeseed (940,000 tonnes), over 2.2 million tonnes (2.4 million tonnes) of soybeans.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian agribusinesses in MY 2016-2017 exported 43.8 million tonnes of grain, which was a record high over Ukraine's independence. At the same time, revenue from grain exports increased by 6%, to $6.4 billion.

The previous record of grain exports at 39.4 million tonnes was reported in MY 2015-2016.

Ukraine harvested 61.3 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops in 2017, which was 7.3% down from 2016, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine said.
