National Nuclear Energy Generating Company Energoatom posted UAH 1.343 billion, or US$51.1 million, in profit before tax in the first two months of 2018 (January-February).

"The debt of the state-owned enterprise Energorynok [the operator of Ukraine's wholesale electricity market] for electricity produced at Ukrainian NPPs [nuclear power plants] as of February 28, 2018, increased to UAH 12.845 billion [$488.4 million]," the press service added.
As UNIAN reported earlier, Energoatom posted UAH 1.3 billion ($49.4 million) in losses in 2017, against UAH 232.8 million ($8.9 million) in net profit in 2016.
Energorynok's overall debt before Energoatom in 2017 totaled UAH 12.605 billion ($479.3 million).
UNIAN memo. Energoatom is the operator of four nuclear power plants in Ukraine (Zaporizhia NPP, Rivne NPP, Yuzhnoukrainsk NPP, and Khmelnytsky NPP). The NPPs operate 15 nuclear power units (13 VVER-1000 and two VVER-440 units) with a total capacity of 13.84 GW.
