Poroshenko enacts law introducing photo, video recording of illegally parked cars

Car owners who pay fines within 10 days will be given 50% discounts.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on March 28, 2018, enacted a law that toughens vehicle parking rules by introducing the photo and video recording of offenses.

The document provides for the creation of a legislative mechanism for the inevitability of liability for infringements on the rules of stopping and parking of vehicles, which will be ensured by photo and video recordings.

The law stipulates violators will be given a copy of the decision or a notice will be left on the windshield of the vehicle to make them administratively liable for violations recorded by photo or video devices.

The seized vehicles will be returned promptly after the payment of fines and the cost of tow and storage service.

According to the document, parking inspectors are authorized to consider the cases of administrative violations and temporarily seize vehicles.

At the same time, the system of fines for infringements on the parking rules has been improved: car owners who pay fines within 10 days will be given 50% discounts.
